[ Squall appears on the camera, his face tilted toward the sky. It's not easy to make out his expression, especially when the his pokegear is positioned low and near the ground. The angle is sharp but there's still a clear view of Squall's left hand tightening into a fist at his side. And to someone being extremely observant, they might spy a glint of silver metal on his middle finger (a ring maybe?) ]

[ His spine is taut and rigid. In the background, out of sight a murmur of "Kad... Kadabra..." can be heard. ]

...Never thought... Never even crossed my mind...

[ The SeeD scoffs sharply, shaking his head before looking down at whoever is holding his gear. Squall glares, his eyes somewhat brighter than usual but it could be a trick of the light... ]

Turn that thing off. Now.

[ Oh. Rinoa recognizes that face—that voice—that attitude. Again. Except this time, he actually looks like the right age. And he had to be around here somewhere...Still, she's going to be somewhat wary; who knows how many doppelgangers Squall has? ]

[ He doesn't want to look. Doesn't want to glance at his pokegear. That voice, he would know that voice from anywhere. If this was the Conflict, he could have easily waved it off as Ultimecia pulling another mind trick on him but-- ]

[ Taking a deep breath, Squall hesitantly asks ]

[ If he hadn't seemed so out of it, Rinoa would have seriously been annoyed at how strange he was acting. At this rate, she was going to develop a complex or something. Instead, she gives him a nod and a bright smile; he's here. ]

Squall! I was wondering where you were...

[ His head ducks lower but he doesn't make any move to look at the 'gear ]

[ Okay yeah, smile dimming a little because...he seems really off. And he won't even look at her. ]

Yeah, I've been here for almost two weeks. [ Fiddles with her necklace. ]

...Squall, are you alright?

[ The answer to immediately say 'Yes' dies in his throat before he voice it. Squall pauses before taking a deep breath. If there's anyone who deserves honesty from him--it's her. Rinoa. ]

...No. I'm not.

[ He pauses again ]

A friend. An ally. He... disappeared. Vanished. Left, I... I don't know.

[ Oh. That...explains a lot. Rinoa appreciates the honesty, really, and so she tries to think of some way to reassure him. It'd be easier if she weren't new to the whole disappearing-thing. ]

From what I understand, I....that probably means he went home, right?

[ Didn't she hear someone say something like that recently...? ]

But...I've heard people can come back, too. So maybe he'll return.
