☇016 - Video/Action for Outskirts of Goldenrod (forward dated to Xmas Night!)

[ It's late at night and although the festival is probably still in full swing, Squall's out on the outskirts of Goldenrod where the lights are actually dim enough for people to see the stars in the sky. The pokegear is still and level, obviously on top of something. Whatever Squall's planning seems like he doesn't want the camera to get skewed.

[ Squall walks into view and nods once at the pokegear. Dressed in his usual garb--jacket included this time--, Squall makes a motion to the side with a wave of his hand. ]

It's not a real gift but... I guess, I should still do something as thanks.

[ He nods again, this time more briskly as he adjusts the hold he has on the

he received earlier that day, delivered sometime before he woke up. ]

[ Cyndaquil pops up, its face filling the entire screen before it runs past Squall until he's probably some distance away. Without warniing, Cyndaquil begins to use Swift, bright stars flying everywhere when suddenly Squall's Driblim floats into view with a shadow-ball charging in front of it, held up by two of its arms. The balloon pokemon lets go of the shadow-ball, hitting a few of the Stars made by Cyndaquil's Swift attack, creating a huge explosion of bright light, almost blinding anyone viewing Squall's post.

[ When the light dies down, smaller stars seem to fall from the sky before small tiny flames of will-o-wisps start shooting toward them, creating more smaller bright flashes of light. The roar of a Gyarados is heard before bolts of Thunder start to fall from the sky. Cyndaquil appears again and proceeds to use an Eruption, a massive rise of fire with a large enough smoke plume to almost reach the sky.

[ The small impromptu show continues with Squall's pokemon interchanging attacks to create displays of light not unlike regular fireworks.

[ When the show ends, Squall appears in front of the pokegear again and nods, although he doesn't really look that stoic as usual, if anything... He looks a bit uncertain, not that he'll ever admit it. ]

Hope you all like it. I guess, you can say this is my... present for you guys.

[There's someone walking up to Squall, but he's too busy staring at the show to start the conversation. His own egg is in his arms.]

[ Squall turns the moment he senses someone approach. Yeah, the show's impressive. Almost like how his own attacks in the conflict are. Flashy and distracting... ]

[And painfully painful.]

It's beautiful. You all must have worked very hard.

Not that hard.

It's just... a different way of them using their attacks.

[He reaches into his bag.]

[ Squall takes the offering and stares at the gift-wrapped item. ]

I hope it will be fine. I tried my best to find something actually useful, but... This world doesn't quite cater to our definition of useful.

Right..

[ He runs a finger along one of the seams before slowly ripping into it, careful to keep as much of the wrapper intact since well, there's no point in making a huge mess ]

[And within, he'll find a lovely Compact Survival Knife. Because they didn't have gunblades. Sorry.]

[ Squall blinks at the knife before holding up in front of his face. He turns it around, examining it from all angles before nodding briskly. ]

...It's... good. Didn't think that they sold stuff like this here. With their no weapons deal...

You're welcome. They must make them for mountains climbers and other travellers. Or perhaps they are considered too small to be true weapons. The only other blades I could find were kitchen knives.

[ Squall gives an amused scoff ]

Just kitchen knives? No cloak or lantern to go with? Doesn't seem right not to have complete set.

They had flashlights and brown winter coats. Who would want to look like a cheap imitation?

...You have a point.

Then again, they do sell Pokémon-shaped costumes. They might accept commissions.

How cool! How did you get them to do that?

[Not like...Zidane can really control his Pokémon in the first place to train them in the first place. Not like that, anyway.]

[ Squall shrugs ]

It's part of our training. Even if it's outside regularly... battle regulations.

It's still cool, though! When we catch up, I wanna see it in person.

[ An amused snort ]

You have seen something like this in person already, Zidane. The last time you and I sparred.

...Well, that's true. But still.

[He likes stuff like that.]

[ Squall nods, relaxing slightly at the compliment. Oh good. He did do a good thing... especially when this is the first time he did something like this... for Recreational purposes. And not in during a spar either. ]

I did... I have not seen fireworks in years.

Years?

[ He stares at her for a moment, before shaking his head. They're just fireworks (Well, not really). ]

I''m... happy you enjoyed it, Suzuki.

[Her lips twitch a little into something of a vague smile, trying not to edge too far into fond territory.]

[ Squall stares at her for a moment. He saw that, Suzuki and ducks his head slightly, not quite looking at her ]

[She glances away also, taking a second to collect herself because this is suddenly... awkward for some reason.]

Ahem... It was very nice. [A deep breath and she tries to forget the last part completely, perking an eyebrow at him.] Something the matter...?

No, nothing's wrong.

[ He forces himself to look at her this. She's his friend, one of the few he made in this world. He wouldn't be hesitant with her, at least that's what he tells himself ]

Right. Of course.

[A beat.]

The most pleasant things tend to be unexpected, don't they?

You could say that.

[ Squall shrugs, unsure about how truth that statement could be. Especially for him. Yeah, there were unexpected things that turned out well, great, but there were other stuff that weren't. ]

They did well.

[ Squall stares into the camera before nodding briskly ]

They did.

How long did it take you, to teach them what to do?

They're only doing what they already know.

[ He shrugs. ]

Still, it must have required some practice.

Not as much as you think. It's part of their regimen.
