☇015 - Video/Action for Ecruteak City, just outside the Tower

[ For the first time in weeks days, Squall finally appears on the network. Head tilted toward the sky, his brows furrows at the sight of snow intermingled with the hard rain. He's soaked, drenched and without a jacket. ]

Damn, thought I heard...

[ His head jerks at the sound of more thunder and a flash of lightning. Immediately he searches for the sound and finds nothing. Whatever brought him out of the tower, it had to be the lightning. Physically, he looks strained and tired--like he hasn't been sleeping properly. ]

Just another storm. Isn't it?

[ Squall glances toward his pokegear before reaching down to pick up his Cyndaquil. The fire-type seems to be wrapped up tightly with Squall's jacket before snuggling more into his chest.

[ The feed ends. ]

[ The microexpression — one of her favourites — doesn't slip past her. She smiles warmly in response. ]

I arrived alone, yes; as far as I know, the others are still back home. I've met some people since, but I've been traveling alone. I'm in Violet City for now.

The snow's the worst of it. I guess I'm in no position to chastise you, anyway; I traveled for days in feet of the stuff. [ She laughs a little, ruefully. ]

[ Squall gestures toward the wrapped fire mouse in his arms ]

You had to have gotten at least something from that... Professor when you first arrived.

...Reminds you a bit of Trabia, doesn't it? The snow, I mean. Without this rainstorm.

[ His lips twitch slightly ]

Too bad we don't have our own mobilized Garden to move around here with.

[ The smile brightens further. ] Right, not completely alone. [ She holds up two Pokéballs on her palm. ] King and Aero... I had a Skarmory with me when I started, and caught a Pidgey on the way to Cherrygrove.

I couldn't get Trabia out of my head. [ She laughs. ] I keep expecting to round a corner and see the Shumi Village.

Yeah, halfway to Violet City, I realized that between the Garden and Ragnarok, I'd been spoiled. It'll be good, I suppose, to get used to traveling on foot again. Keeps me in shape, anyway, since there's no physical training to be done here.

... Who's your friend, there? [ She nods toward the Cyndaquil. ]

Skarmory. Don't think I know that kind.

[ He's not going to mention that he was mostly expecting to see the battered remains of Trabia Garden, but that's probably just his morbid side going overboard--or just his fatigue finally getting the better of him. ]

Especially when we don't have our weapons.

Cyndaquil. Fire-type. ...It likes to cling. Sometimes too much.

[ Squall scoffs lightly, shaking his head but continues to absently pet his starter regardless. ]

[ She glances beyond the 'gear and around the room before she releases King. He spreads his wings and stretches his neck, then peers at her curiously as she turns the camera to him. ]

I have to admit, I was pretty unsettled at being unarmed, but King's done a good job of taking care of me.

[ The camera comes back to Quistis, smiling a little bit. ] It's cute. You seem fond of it, too.

... It's an interesting place, isn't it? Sort of a... nice change of pace, after everything we went through.

[ If you're only relying on your pokemon. Not that he has anything really bad to say that. But it still doesn't stop him from training almost daily--if he can ]

[ Her expression flickers through surprise, then settles on lighthearted scorn. ] You're lucky you're so far away, Squall. 'Lazy' is the last applicable adjective, here.

I've heard some people have been here as long as six months.... [ She trails off, growing a little uneasy again. Sure, it's a nice breather, but six months sounds like the beginning of 'forever.' ] ... I hope we're not stuck here that long, but in the meantime, at least the danger back home is over. [ This is a small solace. ]
