☇ 013 - video; & action for Violet Gym

[ The video feed starts, the pokegear obvious held close to the ground despite the blinding light that is coming from the center of the battlefield. Looks like one of Squall's pokemon is evolving! ]

Omnious Wind!

[ The newly evolved Drifblim responds almost immediately, casting a cyclone of purple winds toward Falkner's Honchkrow before immediately using payback and astonish without Squall prompting. ]

You look even more like your namesake now, Demon... I'm impressed.

[ Squall shakes his head, and watches the next few minutes of the battle silently before calling back Demon into its pokeball. ]

Your turn, Diablos.

[ The Duskull appears in a flash of red light, already in the midst of charging the Honchkrow. Squall smirks to himself as balls of Will-o-Wisps start to surround the bird before Duskull attacks with Pursuit and Night Shade. It doesn't take long for the Bird to faint ]

You're good. Let's see how you handle this! Pidgeot! Use Agility! Then FeatherDance!

[ Squall grunts when the attack makes contact with Diablos. Waving his hand, Duskull retaliates with another Will-o-Wisp followed by a failed attempt of Confuse Ray. As Falkner orders a Twister from his pokemon, Squall swiftly motions for Duskull to use Shadow Sneak.

[ Watching his ghost falter again, Squall growls in aggravation just as a white light starts to surround his Ghost-type.]

...You, too?

[ Squall watches in bewilderment at his new Dusclops. Falkner doesn't waste time attacking and it takes Squall a moment to gather himself before calling out for another Will-o-Wisp. However, Dusclops seems to have a better idea already forming its stubby arms and hands into fists ]

Duss.... Cllloooopppssss!!!

[ Suddenly two fist-shaped shadows start to race toward the Pidgeot only to divert at the last moment to charge toward Squall's direction. The attack strikes the SeeD, causing him to fall to one knee and groan in pain, gripping his right shoulder (because it's just bloody ironic that the Shadow Punch hit him in the same place a Sorceress did long ago). The supervising referee starts to wave his flag to stop the match, opening his mouth to do just that as Squall lifts his head and yells out ]

I-I'm fine. Let's finish this. (I've waited too long for this match to stop now.)

[ Squall glares at his new Dusclops, determined to ignore the pain and finish the match. Without a second thought, he calls back Diablos and sends his Gyarados out.]

[Two evolutions in a single match! Cecil is quite glad he isn't missing this. Wait, what is Diablos doing?]

Squall!

[He'll keep that horrified look until the match finishes. But he takes out some bandages, just in case.]

[ Taking his badge from Falkner, Squall turns to face Cecil before glancing down at the bandages in the paladin's hands. ]

What do you need those for?

[...You were just punched, what kind of question is that?]

I have no need for them. What is the state of your shoulder?

[Wishing for functional Cure spells right about now.]

Throbbing.

...I'm not bleeding, Cecil.

I was thinking more along the lines of 'immobilizing it until you see a doctor', but the lack of blood is somewhat reassuring. Would you like some ice?

It's not that bad.

[ He'll be black and blue maybe for the next few days and might not be able to do much with his right arm but he'll be fine, Cecil. Unless he decides to not take it easy on himself... ]

Don't need it.

[He doesn't quite believe that, but Squall can out-stubborn him and he knows it.]

A meal, then? To celebrate you third badge. One more, and you will reach the halfway point.

[Pretty cool Pokemons you have there▬ Oh, my that's not fair! So when the match ends...]

[After that hit to Squall's shoulder, the Warrior keeps a sharp eye on him for the rest of the match, but he doesn't approach until it's done. It looked like it hurt, of course, but they've all had worse.]

Good work. How is your shoulder?

Nothing I can't manage.

[ Squall nods, massaging his left hand against his injured shoulder. ]

If you are certain. It was a strong attack.

[ Yeah, it was a very strong attack. Almost knocked the wind out of him but he wasn't going to say that. ]

Hn. Gotta work on Diablos's control.

If you wish to train him against other pokemon, I can offer my own.

[Crosses her arms as she steps over to him after the match.]

It looks like someone needs an attitude adjustment... Teenagers are such monsters. [She almost snorts at her own comment.]

[ He chuckles lightly ]

It was... overzealous.

[She won't bother asking about his shoulder because she assumes that he'll be fine and she's not particularly concerned about it anyway.]

Let's hope it's just a phase and he evens himself out eventually.

[ After being impaled by an ice spear-javelin? Yeah, he's gonna be just fine. ]

Hopefully. Have to spend time on working on Diablos's control, regardless. Probably lost focus near the end.

It happens. It is something the trainer and the partner must both work on. Though I am sure that you are aware of this...

I am. Still, didn't think it would evolve now, much less use a move it just learned and never trained with.

Should have known better.

It was a risk, yes, but again you must both work on that kind of thing. Even when pressed for time in a battle with a gym leader. [She's not meaning to get all lecturey but she's used to being blahblahblahtechnicalblahblahblah]

There is no use in beating yourself up over it now.

[Why, he knows that voice - but this is the first time he's really gotten a good look at Squall's face]

Squall, are you okay?

Yeah. I'm fine. I had worse.

That wouldn't surprise me, but friendly fire still stinks.

[Want as opposed to need; Squall strikes him as the type that won't say he needs much of anything]

Diablos just lost focus. That's all.

[ He would shrug but he doesn't want to risk bringing more pain with that action. ]

No. I have it handled. It just managed to strike an old wound I had.

[Poor Squall, it's pretty clear to him from watching Terra and Aqua when somebody's hurting and trying to act like they're not]

Okay...but if you want a hand with something, I can help out, alright? I know I don't know you very well, but you're pals with Miss Adelheid, so...

[Aerith was watching the battle while holding onto the wrapped Eevee egg in her arms. She was silent and cheering happily every so often until she saw how Squall got injured. She wanted to run down and check on Squall, but held herself back. Especially when Squall wasn't going to finish the battle over his arm, so she sat back down.]

Be careful, Squall!

[She nervously began to rub the Eevee egg as she continued to watch the battle. Squall, the Ledian, was clinging onto Aerith's shoulder while watching the battle too. Chansey was sitting on Aerith's right side and Mosey, the Houndoom, on her left side, but he wasn't watching the battle unlike his friends. He has more important duties like glaring at anyone who got close to her. Over-protective Houndoom was over-protective.

However when the match was over the first two pokemon to run up to Squall will be Squall and Mosey. The Ledian will be fluttering around him while Mosey will bark proudly. Well done, human! Aerith will be taking her sweet time walking while being extra careful with her egg.]

[ Squall just stares at the dog before blinking. What the hell, dog? What do you want? ]

Aerith. When did you get a dog?

[Mosey isn't going to repeat himself twice. He'll just wait for his friend to arrive and glare at whoever is close to her. Aerith thinks over his question.]

Hmmm, I've had him for a couple of weeks. More or less. I found him at Violet City before Leon arrived to Johto. He used to belong to the Cloud that you know.

[Mosey heads back to Aerith's side and sits there. Chansey will watch the egg curiously in Aerith's arms while Squall will cling onto the arm that wasn't hit. A smile appears on her lips as Aerith pets Mosey.]

Looks like Mosey beated me in congratulating you. Isn't that right, Mosey?

[Mosey nods his head once before he snorts: Gosh. Are humans really this slow? Ledian will pout and call out to Mosey to behave and not call Squall slow. Mosey ignore Ledian while Chansey looks up at Ledian and tries to assure her that Mosey didn't mean it. Aerith stomps her foot once which causes Chansey and Ledian to stop talking.]

So, what are your plans now, Mr. Badge Winner?

Which Cloud?

[ He's met two, one who actually knew him and one who... didn't. Squall turns his head and stares at the bug clinging to his arm. Hyne dammit, get off you... Squall shakes his left arm, trying to get the Ledian to let go ]

Don't have any. Just wanted to get this done before the festival started...

The other Cloud.

[Ledian felt a bit heartbroken that you were trying to get her to let go. Dammit, Squall! Mosey is so snickering at the scene while Chansey scolds him for laughing. Aerith notices the situation and decides to extend her arms out.]

Come here, Squall.

[Ledian will let go and fly back to her trainer's shoulder. She will cuddle up to her which gets a giggling Aerith.]

Good girl, Squall. Remind me to buy you a treat later, hm?

[Ledian is beaming happily. Aerith looks at Squall and smiles some more.]

Oh? That's good to know because I was hoping to go to the festival with you. Are you going for that one day or the two days that it will be around?

Squall!

[Ohhh man. D:]
